DAS is approved by the PSQCA as 3rd party inspection company for rides. The third-party inspection process for amusement rides is a critical safety measure to ensure compliance with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Here’s an overview of the key steps involved:
Pre-Inspection Preparation
- Review Documentation
- Ride design specifications
- Manufacturer’s maintenance manuals
- Previous inspection reports
- Compliance with standards (e.g., ASTM F2291, EN 13814, or local regulations)
Visual & Structural Inspection
- General Condition Check
- Signs of corrosion, cracks, or wear on structural components
- Welding integrity and fastener tightness
- Mechanical Systems:
- Gears, brakes, hydraulics, and drive systems
- Bearings and lubrication points
- Electrical Systems:
- Wiring, sensors, and control panels
- Emergency stop functionality
Functional & Operational Testing
- Dynamic Load Testing
- Operates under normal and extreme conditions
- Checks for unusual noises, vibrations, or malfunctions
- Safety System Verification
- Restraint systems (lap bars, harnesses)
- Sensors and interlocks
- Backup power systems (if applicable)
Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (If Required)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Detects internal flaws in metal structures.
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): Finds surface cracks in ferrous materials.
- Dye Penetrant Testing (PT): Identifies surface defects.
- Pass/Fail status with noted deficiencies
- Recommended corrective actions
Compliance Certification:
- Issued if the ride meets all safety standards
- May include an inspection sticker/logbook update
