DAS is approved by the PSQCA as 3rd party inspection company for rides. The third-party inspection process for amusement rides is a critical safety measure to ensure compliance with industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and regulatory requirements. Here’s an overview of the key steps involved:

Pre-Inspection Preparation

  • Review Documentation
  • Ride design specifications
  • Manufacturer’s maintenance manuals
  • Previous inspection reports
  • Compliance with standards (e.g., ASTM F2291, EN 13814, or local regulations)

Visual & Structural Inspection

  • General Condition Check
  • Signs of corrosion, cracks, or wear on structural components
  • Welding integrity and fastener tightness
  • Mechanical Systems:
  • Gears, brakes, hydraulics, and drive systems
  • Bearings and lubrication points
  • Electrical Systems:
  • Wiring, sensors, and control panels
  • Emergency stop functionality

Functional & Operational Testing

  • Dynamic Load Testing
  • Operates under normal and extreme conditions
  • Checks for unusual noises, vibrations, or malfunctions
  • Safety System Verification
  • Restraint systems (lap bars, harnesses)
  • Sensors and interlocks
  • Backup power systems (if applicable)

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (If Required)

  • Ultrasonic Testing (UT): Detects internal flaws in metal structures.
  • Magnetic Particle Testing (MT): Finds surface cracks in ferrous materials.
  • Dye Penetrant Testing (PT): Identifies surface defects.
  • Pass/Fail status with noted deficiencies
  • Recommended corrective actions

Compliance Certification:

  • Issued if the ride meets all safety standards
  • May include an inspection sticker/logbook update

Follow-Up & Re-Inspection (If Needed)

Corrective Action Review:
Verification of repairs/modifications
